Assisting in Education
ECDC’s are started in isolated tribal areas, where the government did not start as the number of children should be 25 as per Gov. norms). Pre schools are operating in four tribal villages as pilot projects. The PALM 2 expands development issues through the parent and Village development Committees. PALM 2 selects qualified and motivated teachers and supplies afternoon meals to the children to improve their nutritional status. All children are attending primary education after attending the pre schools having gained the basic and moral issues.
School-dropouts, especially girls in tribal villages are encouraged to complete their primary education to prepare for the next level of education, if possible. See also under the VDC’s ( Village Development Committees) under general tribal development.
Some challenges encountered are:
- – poor transport and isolation of the villages
- – absence of toilet facilities for girls
- – fear of failure
- – discrimination
